My Story

Hi! Great to have you here! I'm Amelia Stechweij, married to Stanley, and mother of Reyan (born in 2013). Besides my work, I've been involved with the Watervrienden Almere synchronized swimming team as a swimmer and volunteer coach for over 30 years. It's a sport I love spending several hours in the pool every Sunday evening. Read my story below.

In 2015, after 11 years of paid employment, I quit my job as a marketing and retail manager in the media and entertainment industry. I had a great job and was able to travel regularly within Europe, but I wasn't truly happy. I didn't have a plan, but I followed my gut feeling that I needed to break away from my safe haven and was ready for new challenges. I also wanted, like every entrepreneur and freelancer, more freedom. It was a very daunting decision, but one I made with confidence because I had built a large network and wasn't afraid of ever being unemployed. What's the worst that could happen? I can't find any freelance work? I could always look for a permanent position, right? That was my mindset, anyway.

Fast forward to 2024. Nine years later, and a wealth of experience. I've never had a salaried job again. I did, however, own a baby store and online store, rack up tens of thousands of euros in debt due to bad decisions, start a blog and vlog for mothers, freelance at major media companies and in the kids' licensing industry, and launched two different podcasts. Meanwhile, I was also dealing with a years-long fertility treatment for a second child, which led me to seek out the media to break the taboo. I coached other women on mindset during their fertility treatments, invested thousands of euros in personal development and training, and did freelance work for small and medium-sized businesses and online entrepreneurs.

ONLINE ENTREPRENEURSHIP & FREEDOM

I've been fascinated by online entrepreneurship since 2018. Because what's the main reason someone quits their salaried job? Exactly. MORE FREEDOM. Online entrepreneurs create more freedom by creating scalable online products. Since 2018, I've invested heavily in online (marketing) courses and I've been working behind the scenes at the businesses of female online entrepreneurs. This behind-the-scenes work has always been freelance, often billed hourly. In 2023, I experienced months where I didn't have enough hours in a day. The downside of being self-employed: there's always a limit to how much you can work. But more importantly, I considered the question: how much do I WANT to work? I, too, once chose entrepreneurship for more freedom, but I never realized it for myself. In fact, I nearly worked myself to burnout!

But everything happens before you! That's what I believe. Everything I've experienced these past years happened before me. Ultimately, it led me to where I am today. I'd like to share my knowledge and experience of the past few years, the gratitude I feel for everything I've learned, and the insights I've gained.

Driven by this desire to share my knowledge and truly create more freedom for myself, I started Done For You Portal. It's a platform featuring my own digital products, which other (starting) entrepreneurs can use and quickly and easily create their own. I believe that digital products can help you, as a coach, freelancer, or (starting) entrepreneur, on your path to greater freedom.
